Elephant Day Red Radish Sambar

 


Today is World Elephant Day international annual event. Nature's great masterpiece. Hope grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book. So today recipe is Radish Sambar





Ingredients


  • Radish
  • Toor Dhal
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Sambar powder
  • Olive oil
  • Red chillies
  • Tamarind Juice
  • Mustard seeds
  • Onion
  • Tomatoes
  • Coriander leaves
  • Asafoetida (Hing)
  • Cumin seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt
  • Water



Directions


  • Cook In a pressure cooker, take toor dhal with water Add salt and turmeric powder. Once cooked let it cool down. 

  • In parallel, On a pan, pour oil. When the oil gets heated, add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, cumin seeds, dry red chillies.

  • Add few chopped onions and sprinkle some salt. Saute for few minutes.

  • Add fenugreek seeds, asafoetida powder and mix it well.
  • Add chopped radish pieces and saute it slightly. 

  • Next add tomatoes and saute.

  • Now add turmeric powder, sambar powder Saute for a minute.

  • Add a cup of water and add cooked toor dhal and mix it well.

  • Now add tamarind juice and mix well. Add more water if necessary.
  • Let it boil.
  • Now sprinkle roughly chopped coriander leaves and it is ready to serve.
